Many designers such as Prada, Chanel and Gucci have embraced and and have created stylish versions for today's modern woman.

Baguette: This purse style was made famous by Fendi. In 2007, the Fendi Baguette celebrated its 10th anniversary. This designer purse has a long and round shape and for all practical purposes, resembles a French loaf of bread.

Birkin: Created in 1984 by Hermes based on the needs of British-born actress and singer, Jane Birkin. It is said that she wanted a bigger, easier-to handle handbag in which to carry her belongings.

Box: This cigar box shaped handbag became popular in 1950's. Today's modern version of this purse style is made from wood, straw, cane and even plastic.

Bucket: This handbag style begin around 1933 and is basically shaped like a bucket with lots of room for everything. Today it is produced mostly in leather.
